We have recently brought to your attention the many attributes of the HP DesignJet T730 A0 36” inkjet printer and, in particular, the versatility it offers in its ability to create a wide array of print results by selecting the right plotter paper for the task.

It would be a mistake on our part to neglect to point out that the addition of a scanner to this same printer, creating the HP DesignJet T830 A0 36” and A1 24” wide format printer scanner discussed here in our previous news feature, offers even more versatility. How so?

The inbuilt scanner, cleverly mounted on top of the printer to avoid increasing the footprint, enables you to scan to copy producing copies that look as good as the original, scan to file to a PC on your network for archiving or batch printing, scan to a memory stick for taking your images off site and scan to email – all time saving solutions for a busy workspace.

With the same benefits as the HP T730, this wide format printer scanner now not only has the ability to print technical CAD drawings and full colour photographic images, within the limitations of the four colour inks, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, but can also copy full colour technical documents, up to a maximum thickness of 0.8 mm, in monochrome or colour as well as resize images.

Does the flexibility the HP T830 provides interest you?  If so, you will also be more than interested in the wide range of paper available for you to create the optimum quality prints and copies for your requirements. And to make this task just that bit easier for you, we have put together an easy to follow list of our highly recommended papers for this printer scanner that makes the process of selecting and ordering the best paper for your requirements as simple as possible.

For monochrome and line colour prints and copies

With its ability to print an A1 CAD drawing in 25 seconds and up to 82 A1 prints an hour, a cost effective paper that is suitable for high volume printing in monochrome and line colour is all that is required. There is no need to spend more on a coated paper as the light ink output is adequately catered for with an 80gsm or 90gsm uncoated plotter paper. Also useful to know, our 80gsm uncoated paper rolls are available in a longer 50m length, reducing time consuming roll changes on long print runs. Alternatively, for a more durable paper, our bright white, smooth 90gsm paper is slightly heavier and so is able to withstand more handling.

For presentation and maps

For printing and copying colour presentations and maps with areas of solid colour fill, the heavier ink output requires a coated paper in order to achieve vivid colours with sharp line definition. It is equally important that the paper has a fast drying time to avoid your beautiful images being damaged by handling from the printer. Our 100gsm and 120gsm premium quality coated plotter papers fulfil both of these requirements by having a smooth, beautifully finished coating that can cope with heavy ink loads that dry fast for creating high quality, full colour presentation prints and copies.

For tracing and overlays

Our 112gsm inkjet tracing paper is the traditional choice for overlays and final CAD drawings that need to be archived. Whether printing or copying, this tracing paper with its excellent lay flat qualities and transparency still remains the best choice for tracing and overlays as it is a chlorine free paper made from sustainable spruce with 20% recycled fibres.

For maps, posters, full colour presentations and photographic quality prints and copies

The flexibility afforded by the HP T830 for printing and copying both full colour presentations, maps, posters and photographic quality prints in addition to technical CAD drawings, requires the correct, specially formulated coated inkjet papers in order to achieve the very best results.

For maps and plans that may be exposed to the elements, such as high humidity and moisture, our 140gsm Water Resistant Inkjet Paper is perfect for short term outdoor prints and copies. This paper is even able to withstand the odd rain shower without the ink smudging or the paper disintegrating and has a smooth, matt coated finish that is resistant to cracking ensuring your images always look good.

Our popular heavyweight Matt Coated Inkjet Poster Paper 165gsm is another great value paper that we highly recommend for full colour posters and colour presentations but without the cost of photo grade papers. This versatile paper has a bright white, smooth coating that will accept the high ink loads needed for creating stunning, non-reflective full colour posters and colour presentations with excellent line definition and low show through on the reverse as well as being guaranteed to stay flat.

Another economical option for more durable prints and copies is our heavier weight 180gsm premium quality paper. This paper is also available in a 230gsm weight providing a double weight coated plotter paper option for longer lasting display prints and copies. Both papers create exceptionally dense blacks and vibrant colours so that your colour presentations, maps, display work and indoor signs really do stand out from the crowd.

The HP T830 really does offer so much versatility that even creating photographic quality prints and copies can be easily achieved using the right paper with a high quality coating. Our premium quality 170gsm Photo Realistic Inkjet Paper has a non-reflective matt finish, will not cockle with high ink loads and has a stabilised ‘no curl’ reverse side. Satin finishes are also a popular choice for photographic images and so for superb quality full colour graphics that are smudge resistant and dry instantly for immediate handling we highly recommend our Photo Satin Instant Dry Inkjet Paper in a heavier 200gsm weight.

For fine art prints and copies

With the ability of the HP T830 to accept paper weights up to 280gsm, the versatility of print applications widens even further to include fine art and photographic prints and copies, portraits, greeting cards and postcards. Our 230gsm Canvas Textured Paper has a structure similar to traditional canvas providing an economical high quality fine art paper that is ideal for high volume printing without the cost of inkjet canvas and truly emphasises the flexibility this wide format printer scanner offers.
